The 2018 Materium comes from Weitz Vineyard in Oakville and is exclusively Cabernet Sauvignon aged in mostly new barrels. It is a very different wine to the Amoenus release and has more elegant and fluid aromas and flavors of creme de cassis, black raspberries, tobacco leaves, floral incense and sandalwood. Like Château Margaux in its elegance and complexity, this brilliant wine has lots of sweet fruit, a perfect integration of its tannins and acidity, impeccable balance and a heavenly overall profile that I wish all readers could try.
