Another perfect wine (but with a very limited production of 200 cases) is The Absurd 2013, a 17-component blend dominated by 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Winemaker Benoit Touquette told me that this wine is produced without rules or restrictions, and is considered a super blend of the best they have in a given vintage. (I guess I'd look stupid if I didn't give it 100 points, since two other Realm wines already achieved that top score.) There's something different about this wine, with a dull purple color for sure, but then there's the cassis, blackberries, roasted meats, a bit of spicy pepper and then an extravagantly rich, cascading palate that seems to be built like a skyscraper, but without a hard edge. This is a very well endowed, super rich and incredibly balanced wine that should drink well for 25 years or more.
