Perhaps the most beautiful wrapper ever seen on a Bordeaux bottle, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild literally produced a work of art on the gold-engraved Mouton Rothschild 2000 bottle. Of course, you can't drink the glass, but this is a Mouton Top-tier Rothschild, eclipsed only by the 2006 and 2009. A rich, tannic and earthy style, with lots of crème de cassis and floral notes, the final blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot is a full-bodied wine, a lot of coffee, earth, chocolate notes and still many tannins to resolve. I gave an early expiration range of 2015 to 2050 in 2003, and that seems to be on target.
